What is Truth

 Cultural, social or historically true

Relativistic is the point of view

Lest someone be bold to evade, misconstrue

This method, ambiguous, desperate and blue

Unintelligible verbiage pointing to fact

One calculates, vacillates, caught in the act

Bombastic pomposity, until you fall flat

You’re not really genuine, but glib, and all that

Contextual lexicon, what proof did you ground

Pernicious deliverance, the haughty abounds

The urban, the jargon, and mocking the clowns

The “cattle call” warriors, don’t need them around

The witness decline of perpetual fate

Stop talking and listen before it’s too late

Save your breath, Warren, for your inflatable date

We’ll steal all your land and your mind, confiscate

Your God, you’re not kidding, to that, genuflect

The moral authority is kind and correct

Remembering truth as the “white,” disrespect

Slavery and lynching, or did we forget

The flag came for justice and the statue decreed

People of all races, came here to be freed

The juxtaposition between all of the breeds.

Fell flat and divided, then planted the seed

So water it, nature it, and give it a name

Both sides of the aisle, they have no one to blame

The poor and the trampled are place into shame

American dream, yeah, let’s pour down the drain

Tell me then truth with your lies and deceit

While you stand on my shoulders and trample my feet

Vulgarity, racism, vast and replete

To whom do we turn to, to find love, complete

I’ll tell you of Jesus, the Person of truth

The heart, you will find Him, both old and the youth

You’ll never find fairness and you’ll never find worth

Your name isn’t Sherlock and you sure ain’t no sleuth

Rest in the Savior, He’ll make your yoke light

Faith, hope, and love in His glory so bright

Relationship bound, His proven delight

Come see His promise, come see His might

Nocturnal Feast

Then, came the dreaded canyon as the sky lit up like flames

Recollecting mysteries, those memories to blame

It came upon so suddenly, could hardly hold my breath

Was it just a ghoulish dream, it scared me half to death

I suddenly stood so very still, my heartbeat was so loud

Standing in the crowed bus, I kept above the crowd

Before me stood the wretched foul, he dared for me to speak

My breath turned cold, my eyes, bloodshot, I turned from strong to weak

How could it be, it can’t be true, this vision in my head

I felt my pulse, it wasn’t there, I thought I must be dead

But in that dreadful moment as I thought I’d lost my mind

I felt a tug, a loving hug, the joy was so sublime

Can’t comprehend, the feelings felt, from bitterness to love

Interplay came by my way, from hell or from above

This couldn’t be, the spirit world, it has no place for me

But then, reflecting, be this war, I’d break the chains, be free

But why in dreams, nocturnal feast, it captured all my tears

As years go by, this truth retold, encapsulated fears

Again, the dream, it caught a glimpse, my armor chipped and worn

Or was it real, it can’t be true, mere victim and forlorn

Spiritual warfare lights the night, the battle rages on

Just mere mortal, my armor on, before the

break of dawn

The battle for my soul, you see, the victory was won

When the Father sent the Christ, our God, the only Incarnate Son

And truth be told it was foretold before the world began

The logical priority of His glorious master plan

He foreknew that Lucifer would fall because of pride

And in the garden once they ate, ashamed, they had to hide

From then on, till present day, he comes in fear and rage

Devouring all that he can dupe until the final page

I’d best beware, no common fool, a dreadful adversary

The consequence, temptation grasps, the idols that I carry

The only place that peace be found, amongst the glorious One

If I’m not trusting, faith in Christ, the battle lost, not won

From age to age, from east to west, the outcome, preordained

His sacrifice on bloodied cross, His victory was gained

So dreams they come and dreams they go to frighten you at night

The devil and his lurid schemes will falter in Christ’s light

Division bell, the time will come, when he will be no more

In God alone, his fate is sealed, to hell and shut the door

Lightening Bug

Are you so inclined

Refuse to be entwined

Volition to be strong

Devoid of sin, belong

Let truth flee from your grasp

Returning to your past

The inclination wills

Desire is what kills

Or are you set apart

Deceitful, wretched heart

Your destiny fulfilled

Your cross left on the hill

You try so hard and yet

What promises beset

That you would change your mind

Leave all the world behind

But, are you so inclined

The mystery, sublime

That God doth love you so

Despite your filth and woe

Have you no respect

That you would turn, neglect

From His true majesty

His humble, honesty

What trials did you conceive

You couldn’t just believe

In One who really cared

To love Him, if you dared

The soul is full of will

Emotions over spill

With intellect and mind

His plea to you, be kind

His holiness unfolds

From dark to light, we’re told

His grace, one can’t resist

His love for you, assists

While gaining trust and awe

You’re breathing through a straw

Until you find relief

In reasoned faith, belief

Who fills the starry night

Who beckons dawn and light

Who gives you joy and hugs

And lights the lightening bug

With all this, so much more

To worship and adore

‘‘Twas He who made His plan

He’s asking, if you can

Come closer, He invites

Relationship, delights

So intimate and true

His only point to view

Abandon all these thoughts

Of what you won or lost

He longs for what’s inside

The love that He provides

You’re not alone, in vain

He’ll take away your pain

He sees your torment, too

Your fear that sticks like glue

That’s why He came to face

To bear your sin, erase

The stronghold, crush his grasp

From the fiendish, evil asp

From beginning to the end

He’s looking for you, friend

Pursuit, eternal, strong

With Jesus, you belong

His victory, complete

His splendor, so replete

The Logos did create

The universe, innate

Who is this God you see

Ineffable is He

Or is it in your mind

A trinket you can wind

Is He a pot of clay

You mold and cast away

Or could He be your King

In adoration, bring

To cast your crowns to Him

Your worship, bow, begin

To honor and obey

His love for us, conveyed

It’s simple, understand

It’s not in HIs commands

That you will find His love

His glory from above

The choice is up to you

Both necessary, due

The price for freedom, cost

The sacrifice, the cross

So, in defining terms

What lessons have you learned

You’ll follow Him, or not

Good luck, that’s all you’ve got

To the Person in the Pew

Rivalry, chicanery, deceit imbued in truth

Narcissistic tendencies, vanity in youth

Paralleling attitudes, the righteous will agree

Salvation to the chosen few, the sinner’s prayer, you’re free

Broad path to destruction is the warning from above

Hatred with a street sign, instead of giving love

Prayers are given freely, yet to whom are they thus given

It’s not about relationship, as much about religion

To whom then do you trust in, your earthly, godly works

And off to church on Sunday’s, to worship in your turf

Then hurried in the parking lot, the musings and the rage

The pastor with his sermon, he thinks himself a sage

It’s Sunday, got to get home, grill hot dogs and a drink

This boring job on Monday’s, your nerves are on the brink

You settle into yesteryear, pretend it’s all a game

Tradition taught and family, you lie, you cheat, complain

The spouse is gone, pornography, who cares, it’s not for real

You settle in your manly cave to rest and cop a feel

Whilst madam and her earthy friends are choking on some gossip

The cross is hanging ‘round her neck, it makes you want to vomit

And to distinguish from the crowd, they’re pagan or they’re Christian

It doesn’t matter if you try cuz Satan’s got dominion

They’re all so good, they’re all so proud, it’s heaven that can wait

They do believe in Jesus, how, not what you do but say

But wait, you say, you’re not the judge, it’s God who makes the stand

One question, are you Christian, or just another fan

Because the way you carry on, not something He would do

And one more thing, you haven’t read, He said there’s only few

Who enter by the narrow gate, the path that leads to heaven

Not what about you did or got, or gifts that you’ve been given

Relationship, that leads to life, His death upon the cross

Was needed to repay your sin, He saved you from your loss

A Respite

Tragically befallen, to gaze the divide

Miserly remains, our idolatry, pride

The kernels of hope languish weak and ablaze

Confusion corrodes, our faith in a daze

What’s to be done with our hatred, entranced

Brick walls and ceilings, nowhere to advance

Neighborhood watch, the fear on our streets

The enemy’s lurking, so poised to defeat

Our fate was decided, in old days of yore

The heart so deceitful, no love or control

The children are raised with no honor or shame

There’s death on our streets, but there’s no one to blame

We’re tired, deflated, there’s anger to quell

If this be the promise, it seems more like hell

What happened to joy, peace, love, and the rest

Is this what we’ve got, Lord, is this truly a test

So easy to say that it’s You and not me

‘Twas You gave us will, to choose and be free

We should stop complaining that You are not good

Or if You had power to right it, You would

Epicurus’ dilemma, surmised by Dave Hume

Like squares in a round peg, no logic or room

To justify goodness, while evil, we face

Is God really up there, the why’s, we can’t place

The answer is Jesus, a teacher or fraud

A lunatic, liar or wait, could be God

Who hung on a cross, wasn’t me, wasn’t you

If He, resurrected, then Lord, must be true

The “righteous” seek answers, it’s proof that they need

But, best live in darkness with lies that we feed

No worship, Messiah, Christianity’s dead

So many religions, many mouths to be fed

The path up the mountain, with numbers and rules

If that be your faith with remarkable tools

To pray everyday, give tithe, and be glad

You’ll work your way up there, your sweat to be had

If goodness you seek then, you’ve found it yourself

Then place this Christ, Jesus, alone on a shelf

But, if you want honesty, truth in display

Salvation through Jesus for He is the way

Through troubles and sufferings, the turmoil it brings

The god that you prayed to was lost in your sin

And if you seek solace, a respite, a wisp

Then don’t search for Jesus, you’re too ill-equipped

For rest in the Savior is permanent, see

Relationship governed, eternally freed

Your heart that He’s after, with love on His face

Amazing this God then, amazing His grace

Steadfast

Lamentations, perspirations

True uncertainty that is brought

Are they tests or be they trials

Tempter battles what he wrought

Trite flirtations, castigations

Kingdom promises go awry

Not to worry, He’s too busy

Roaring lion prowls with lies

Aggravation, participation

Luring promises to be told

Eat, be merry, and your drink

In his pride, he’s dark and cold

Consternation, communication

Deceitful envy, danger pains

Round and round your secret lairs

Don’t be bashful, show your shame

Glorification, adulation

Steadfast King has sealed your fate

Justified by His own blood

Drop your anger, drop your hate

Grace, salvation, regeneration

God has chosen His elect

Written in the book of life

The Lamb of God was shown respect

Justification, sanctification

On faith alone, that no one boast

Ascended to His mighty throne

His love complete, the Groom, His toast

Hallelujah, emancipation

Freedom comes to those who trust

Jesus Christ, the King of kings

In trusting Him, He’s true and just

The Theanthropos

The dawn of the dead

New atheistic thinkers

Four horsemen were bread

In their fantasy, lingers

The natural thought

 No God to bequeath

You die and you rot

No soul to believe

The conquest of man

Darwinian proud

Like empty beer cans

We live in a shroud

And just when one thought

Our thinking results

From God, whom we sought

Despised, and insults

How could you, you dunce

You’re just skin and bones

From apes, you came, once

From the bush, not from homes

And force down our throats

Evolution, a must

The horsemen did gloat

In God, did not trust

Intelligent design

A laughable hoax

You thought, the divine

This must be a joke

And where did you read it

The Bible, your jewel

The blind playing cricket

Your God and His rules

There’s nothing that matters

It’s all in your head

You shoot and it splatters

Your brain is now dead

No soul to control us

No sin, sacrifice

No God which to trust in

No Jesus, no Christ

And all these religions

They spew out the same

From all worldly regions

Control is their game

So, everything’s relative

No truth and no shame

Theology, inquisitive

It’s God who’s to blame

We made Him all up, see

For the masses, controlled

The stake and the blasphemy

As they burned, they were told

Conniving, their lies

From a demon, we’re told

Don’t believe, then you fry

No roads paved in gold

Please, it’s Jesus, you’re after

We forgive all your hate

We forgive all your laughter

Before it’s too late

See, the risen, Lord, Jesus

The Son of God came

From glory, among us

To take on our blame

Theanthropos, marvel

The God-man arrived

To save all the fearful

The Divine came alive

And off to the cross, He

Was bloodied and nailed

He gave Himself freely

Our King was assailed

For those that would hate Him

As well, gave His life

Was born to be fallen

In humility and strife

The soldier, stand up then

And pick up your cross

The armor of God, when

The old life, you’ve tossed

For Jesus, our Savior

All majesty, His

He carries our anchor

His promise is bliss

False prophets are many

Your life is undone

So, don’t believe any

Give your life to the One

Discipleship

When asked about my testimony

No time to waist or cast aside

The look on his face, trite and phony

Pride exuding from inside

Gathered strength with dutiful restraint

And off I went to tell my story

Blurted out like guns with paint

To finish fast, my only worry

And what to say, this man of woe

So young at heart and barely noticed

But then he said with sincere glow

Incredible words that weren’t so bogus

Doctor, see, please mentor me

I stopped, confused, and failed to grasp

The offer, clear, without gain or fear

The hiss heard from venomous asp

Obedience, clear, the message sent

Be careful with this one I love

The gifts were given, time well spent

From my Savior, Lord, above

Harsh will be the penalty

In sending one like this astray

For in the mix, eternity

You represent my only way

It happened fast, occasion sprung

From left field screamed the fever pitch

Your life, disciple, just begun

Your heart of flesh is vast and rich

It’s funny how the tide will turn

When sovereign God so doth, bequests

The prodigal son has thus returned

The trial now put to difficult tests

This test of faith, I didn’t ask

Was given, mercy, faith, and grace

And now He put me to the task

To speak His truth, and share embrace

It greatly matters, the sheep is lost

The Shepherd calls him to his home

I know the duty, know the cost

Discipleship has come and grown

The Lord will lead and teach him well

I only act as human guide

There’s no religion I can sell

From Jesus, no one can surely hide

I pray, obey, to do my best

Let precious God regenerate

I understand the consequence

In only God, I trust his fate

Wednesday

Meek and yet indifferent poise

The exterminator came today

Though thought, she was so welcomed in

My mind, in disarray

The morning came, rested, awake

I found my bride in tears

What became of glorious praise

Confusion, reared so clear

The limp, the sag, the pitiful jaunt

The text sent to relieve

What’s this, who said, that can’t be true

Intransigent and deceived

And hence, the plea, we haven’t much time

The glory road has passed

Then rage set in, another way

Before the die is cast

The calls, despair, the frightening truths

Too dastardly to conceive

That hope had lost its foot, assured

That truth, must be believed

We heard the roar in stark defiance

The slayer caught off guard

It came and went, the room stood still

The chilling future, hard

Insanity took its rightful place

Our princess on the ground

We huddled close to hear the “voice”

Submission, was to be found

The tears, fought back, to show my strength

As needles pierced her skin

Her life in ebb in front of me

My wife, defeated, chagrined

The shave to the skin, poke after poke

My peace turned from ire to rage

Dutifully done, the poison begun

As life turned its next wicked page

Lifeless, she lay, what was priceless, undone

As her mother left sobbing, despaired

And onto the stretcher, was carried along

As if no one mattered or cared

Moment by moment, we had said our goodbyes

To late to turn back the clock

So, off in the “hearse,” the slayer took off

I felt as though time had stopped

The planning was done as lessons were learned

The gift from our God clearly seen

That what had been priceless for ten solid years

Our precious, our Abi, our queen

Death be a mystery, we cannot evade

And suddenly left in bereft

She came and she went, no time left to go

Like someone committed a theft

And all that was left with the cries in the night

Was the promise of God that He’s near

He’ll provide and protect, when life closes in

In Christ, we’ve got nothing to fear

So often, the story, she passed, get another

It’s easy if you don’t just believe

That she was perfection, so blessed by our Savior

Substitution, the mind can’t conceive

We wonder, in glory, if ever shall meet

We’ll leave it to God to display

While here, for a moment, the love that she gave us

Reminded on every Wednesday

The Dreamer

Across the path of righteousness

A house dived cannot stand

Indifference breeds the consequence

For hatred in the land

What have we done, what have we not

The flag for privileged few

Complacency will never get

Real action from the pew

How many more, how long, O Lord

The hundreds have gone past

In waiting years with fear, unrest

The search for peace, at last

We are your people, image made

No different, bleed the same

Please stop the madness and the hate

Please stop the jeers, the names

It’s not our fault, we came enslaved

In ships claimed, from the Lord

Were treated less than animals

Lost souls were placed aboard

And off we went to promised land

With shackles and our scars

If dared to fight, lost dignity

The right to live was barred

Then through the years, they came and went

The rich and white prevailed

The Constitution granted rights

We knew that ship had sailed

From bad to worse, the violence claimed

Our brothers, moms, and dads

Please not forget our sisters too

‘Twas rape, was all they had

A voice then came, crying in the night

He came in peace, assailed

He marched along to do what’s right

His letters, pleas, from jail

The dreamer dared to speak again

The world, for all to see

Countless came to hear his voice

‘Bout character, he decreed

But then, the message, to suggest

We’re equal in God’s sight

It brought disgust and further hate

Just get him out of sight

The angel killed, the shot was heard

Was silenced as he fell

The hope to change what couldn’t change

Brought tyranny and hell

Erected statue, on the mall

A national holiday

So,nothing changed, went back to sleep

The country and its ways

And 57 plus years later

The George Floyd’s still remain

Despite the lies, the country’s ripped

Brutality, still aflame

Movements come and movements go

The government never cared

The talk from pulpits dimmed and gone

Lord’s love was never shared

And pray we must, to battle on

For God, all people mattered

But now, it black lives, focus please

Their lives are torn and shattered

Hardened not your heart, you see

Please listen to their voice

We all must live in equity

We all must have a choice

It’s not about the battle lines

Not who is right or wrong

Gods’ people need their due respect

We all are dear, belong
