Babylon

Differences in color, so who decided
Country without soul and so divided
Can’t we bridge the gap, a corporate plea
Hatred makes us blind so we can’t see

History is before us, nowhere to hide
Is anarchy the path, including pride
Your voice cannot be heard above the cries
The silent government and all their lies

Nowhere to turn to, no place to go
Vandalism looting, stole the show
We’ll never understand from where we’ve come
Fear is what was reaped with pain for some

The poor and the oppressed down through the times
The butchery involved, what’s yours is mine
And lest forget the misery, add up the cost
We cannot right the wrongs, the children lost

We cannot understand what we don’t know
Indignant, black and white, the only show
And what have we accomplished as a race
And what about being human, takes its place

For what we’ve lost, our faith in God is gone
We’re born in this abyss and don’t belong
Our lives are taken, our right to speak
Intolerance embolden, our future bleak

So, who’s to say what’s right and what is wrong
The country made for privilege and the strong
There’s no flag can unite the hate we have
There’s no hope left to save us, aren’t you sad

The chosen few did conquer, did not take long
Created for themselves, like Babylon
The marginalized are trampled, set aside
No one to see their future, in whom confide

Millions that are rotting, bring more prayers
The people at the top, they do not care
Whatever love inside them surely died
The poor left on the streets, nowhere to hide

Answers that are given, in hope, arise
Solutions from “big brother,” in disguise
A house of cards delivered, year after year
Dreams are faded, gone, no one to hear

As promises fly by, the people tire
Convoluted talk, filthy quagmire
And all pretense to care to get your vote
It doesn’t really matter as you choke

Nothing that is said, whoever says it
Can make it go away, it doesn’t fit
We’re human, all the same, from God we came
We only have ourselves, so stop the blame

The only one solution, God above
He showed us on the cross, in giving love
Example that He set was His decree
The only way to love, to be set free

Is sacrifice your cost, throw down your hate
The cost of freedom sown , before too late
There will always be injustice, sinful manner
Please raise the flag of love, that is our banner

Moral Monster

So, who are we to see and judge
With our vision dressed in sludge
Give directives and opine
That all Your glory is maligned

That this true God with whom some bed
Is so extinct and surely dead
And all the butchery at His feet
Blood on His hands, so replete

Evil blossoms, evil blooms
No divine justice but torture rooms
The savvy sage of present day
Scoffs delusion to all who pray

Great delight, to all, free will
With tacit envy, if looks could kill
Our god is green, in him, obey
The Voice is empty, we have our way

And through all pasts, what have we learned
To lie, deceive, have pride, and yearn
For those provisions which give us lust
It’s not in God, but us, we trust

So, who’s to say what’s right or wrong
We’ll kill the weak to make us strong
Intelligence, which rules the truth
It’s evolution, brainwash the youth

We’ve come so far with our pro-choice
The unborn lacks no name or voice
Then hate prevails, both black and white
And no one cares about women’s rights

We find the cause, want to be heard
With those smug smiles and angry verve
It’s all a mess, the world’s gone crazed
You think we’ve changed, you’d be amazed

Throughout all ages, been just the same
No matter the crime, no one’s to blame
In image You made us, from the tree to the fruit
From beginning to end, we will curse You, dispute

But one thing’s imprinted, we won’t understand
After creation, the fall, and your plan
Your love was salvation, Your Son condescended
In becoming like us, relationship fended

With all of the savagery, humility in shame
The Christ, is who saved us, by believing His name
And the savvy sage of this present day
Scoffs at delusion to all who would pray

Great, their delight, to all, have free will
With tacit envy, if their looks could kill
Our god is green, in him, we obey
The Voice is so silent, we have our own way

Historic ages, been all the same
From crime to crime, no one’s to blame
In “Imago Dei,” from tree to fruit
From beginning to end, we’ll curse, dispute

But one thing’s imprinted, we won’t understand
After creation, the fall, and Your plan
Your love was salvation, Your Son condescended
Becoming like us, relationship fended

With all of our savagery, humility in shame
The Christ who did save us, by believing His name
He hung on cross, washed in your sin
So who are you to rile and grin

This God with whom you curse and loathe
This God with whom you dare to goad
Has sacrificed His Son for you
So what are you prepared to do

To sit upon your moral chair
With no humility, and no cares
Then life goes by, the nursing home
You die, the grave, that’s where you’ll roam

So, what’s the point, you’re dead, you’re gone
Never felt right, you didn’t belong
Your twisted path was never straight
Instead of love you chose your hate

Another path, another fate
The love of Christ, before too late
He waits so patiently for you
His love supreme, His love is true

Decisions come, decisions go
Be like a sheep, go with the flow
But if you choose the love of Christ
You will be saved by His sacrifice

Sam

We all fear this pain and loss
It is grief which counts the cost
No countless tears could just repay
What surely happened on that day

The eighth of June, it was decided
In God, we prayed, and confided
That we would leave him in his best
Draped in dignity, at his rest

In all those years that passed us by
To think, remember, blink of an eye
As he laid in our beloved shack
God took him, peaceful, fade to black

Around him love was clearly shown
In the comfort of our home
Then, great peace and quiet came
Going to his resting place

Memories come and memories go
Not for people, not for show
See, Sam did give us precious love
It was destined from above

A love with grace, without condition
‘Twas his job, was his mission
He was shown the love he gave
And he gave with boundless waves

We are left with emptiness
Like a bird, flew from our nest
Pain and sorrow can’t replace
What God gave us in His grace

We don’t merit what was given
Treasures given, we enliven
Time is fleeting, yet in pain
Seems we can’t, replace, regain

Sam’s true spirit, Him alone
Memories fade, but he is home
Some may question, not believe
Yet, God’s creature, so conceived

Some day, gather, when we die
Find our loved one passing by
Love of Jesus for us all
For all His creatures, great and small

Thanks Sam...

Dark

Like Aqualung you may see his disguise
But truth be told, his eyes bear no lies
From wretched past, he rose through the rot
To remember the stench that he never forgot

A man plain and simple, you could never neglect
He’ll curse you and beat you without your respect
But one thing I’ll tell you, he’ll never take part
In your lies and deceit, he will tear you apart

Heavy metal vomit, he played and amazed
The craft, his guitar, he was crazed, yet he gave
To those he called friends, bar room fights if they dared
Forbidden, he loved, in secret, he cared

I don’t know his past yet I know him so well
He suffered through pain, he was destined for hell
Whatever you saw in him, people would state
He’s full of tattoos, he’s a bum, he don’t rate

But I know a story, yeah, one needs to be told
That Dark ain’t the man you think, rotten and cold
But a beautiful angel, both inside and out
He’ll give you his heart if you’ll let yours right out

See, Dark ain’t no villain, no idolatry, pride
He’s not something easy, to trick or to hide
What he wants is the truth, and he’s willing to listen
It’s God what he’s after, after all he’s been given

His life made him hard to the fact of life’s toils
He never knew love as a child, wasn’t spoiled
All he accomplished and all he decreed
Was to live life its fullest and then he was freed

And through all his hardship, he found one true love
An angel named Tammy, from God up above
He lost her and cursed God, he gave up his will
But then found forgiveness, stayed quiet and still

He listened to one Voice who could quench and give peace
Found, could give up hate, that he could release
Demons inside, bent up pride and himself
Gave what he knew, all his things and his wealth

Then he found the Lord, from the night to the day
It’s not easy to love in a sacrificial way
And giving all you’ve got, then you give just one thing more
It’s your love of self, dropped, as you walk through God’s door

There’s More to the Story

Where do I go to find peace, gratitude
Then I bump into you to get hate, attitude
There’s no place to hide, only fear and a feud
Life’s but a joke, but it isn’t, it’s crude

I’m tired of waisting my time in my fate
I’m tired of waiting before it’s too late
I feel the grim reaper is my only date
I feel like a fish on a hook, I’m the bait

And what, all this racial divide is polluted
The masses just stand on the corner so muted
The world is not real, just a mess, convoluted
Is this what He came for, to be persecuted

I don’t understand all the power and greed
So many have nothing with mouths left to feed
Can anyone, please, just do one good deed
Billions like us, just different in needs

Yes, desperate claims, see, something’s gone wrong
Nobody is worthy, nobody belongs
So, throw money at it, you can’t right the wrongs
This apathy’s sacred, division too strong

Then sail to an island, get away from the crowd
What, poverty’s talking, the voice is too loud
Away from the boat, see, you’re rich and so proud
To get in the weeds, no, your head’s in a cloud

Majestic, clear moments, you don’t give a damn
Let them eat cake, no, just let them eat Spam
Everyone’s free but we’re all in a jam
No pearls you can find here, just shells like a clam

The price for our freedom, we didn’t obey
We made up our own gods with stubble and clay
And science and Superman, please come save the day
God never existed, it was always our way

So, what about life then, is this all we’ve got
Just buy more geraniums and place them in pots
A pat on your back, hey kids, thanks a lot
To die in your misery, all dressed in your plot

There’s more to the story, so I have been told
It’s not about hoarding your riches and gold
It’s not about good deeds you’ve done til your old
It’s all about Jesus, please let me be bold

He came down from Heaven to love and give grace
To the poor and the lonely who couldn’t find place
He hung on a cross so your sins be erased
‘Twas Christ be forsaken, so you could save face

Before God and His glory, His sacrificed life
Twas Jesus of Nazareth who took on our strife
The Bridegroom was humbled to save His church wife
Relationship wanting in God’s afterlife
